Dear Valued Customers and Friends:

Over the Christmas holidays, my husband and I came to the agonizing decision that we need to close The Real Pie Company.

When we opened the shop last February, we agreed to give it our all for a year and then evaluate our situation at the end of that year. Over this year, we have watched the business grow and flourish, and we are very proud of what we have accomplished. We have met many, many wonderful people and felt immense gratitude for our customers, who have been so enthusiastic and supportive. If we had no other competition for our time, we would continue in our business with the same energy and joy that we have poured into it this past year.

However, when we opened our shop last February, we did not stop to consider the business’ potentially devastating impact on our family life. We have two small children, and they have spent the year, basically, without a mommy. I have worked seven days a week this past year, and it has been very hard on them. Our involvement in this project has taken a real toll on our family, and we feel it's time to refocus on what is most important to us.

Our plan is to re-open the shop in three years when my children are a little older (or, possibly sooner, if we can configure the business differently so I can balance my home and professional life better). We are compiling a list of emails of people who would like to be contacted when we know we are re-opening the shop. If you wish to be on that list, please email me at kira@realpiecompany.com.

Our last day of business will be Saturday, January 19th. Please come visit us to say goodbye.

If you have a gift certificate to redeem, please come in before January 19th, or send it to the following address with your return address and we will reimburse you for the full cash value of the certificate:
